Greatist: Brand Refresh
Expertise:

Overview:
Healthline Media is the leading health website in the U.S., with 72.9 million monthly visitors. Known for reliable research, diverse perspectives, and compassion, it’s a trusted resource that helps people make healthier choices while continually improving its design to better connect with users.
My Role:
As part of the design team, I worked with designers and photo editors on the editorial team to create visuals that connected with our audience. I contributed ideas that shaped our creative direction and helped develop design guidelines and templates to ensure consistency during a brand refresh.
Outcome:
The project delivered a design system and style guide with templates for graphics, social media, and web visuals, aligning with Healthline’s refreshed brand. This scalable system cut content production time by 20%, improved brand recognition by 15%, received positive feedback, and built user trust with consistent, approachable design.

Photography:
At Greatist, photography is a key element in creating connections and resonating with our audience. To convey authenticity with our bold and cool aesthetic, we sourced images from Getty, Stocksy, and our in-house library, showcasing real emotions, flash photography, and unique compositions to deliver a relatable and visually captivating experience.

Illustration:
Illustrations convey information in an engaging and entertaining way. Playful designs are key to Greatist's brand identity, using dynamic, retro-inspired graphics to draw in audiences while addressing sensitive topics with a welcoming and empathetic tone.

Photo Collage:
Quirky collages and gifs are a large part of the Greatist brand expression. The youthful, nostalgic, and trend-relevant visuals help engage viewers around sensitive topics in a way that feels approachable and non-judgemental.

Gifs:
Animations (gifs) bring graphics to life, adding movement and energy that capture attention. These lively, interactive visuals make editorial content more dynamic, drawing viewers in and turning static images into an engaging, memorable experience.

Swag:
Greatist swag was awesome because we used custom illustrations that really reflected our brand's personality. It made everything feel unique and personal, not just like regular company merch. Plus, it was super fun and creative! (and wearable)

Social:
At Greatist, our social media graphics were designed to seamlessly link to articles, providing a convenient and engaging way for our audience to explore and enjoy the content.
